Been creating a little card art for some beautiful friends using some fabulous products.

Love the sizzix bird die cut and Collections have so many wonderful things...

Been loving the new transparency tape from Ranger.

It makes super backgrounds and have doubled it on itself to make groovy ribbon accent for the flowers.I do love the vintage look...can you tell !

Most of the products in these cards can be found at SCRAPTIVATE or pop by their on-line store.

Gotta love a hand made card and making them is only half the fun.

PLAYTIME GALORE

Its been school holiday delight for me and boy have I had some fun with late night turning into early morning playtime. Lazy days wearing my PJ's all day and playing in my craft room...its BLISS!

Joined the design team at SCRAPTIVATE...a gift that came just at the right time when I asked the universe to send me what i needed. Love this store and the team of talented girls who are scraptivate.My first DT pack was bursting with wonderful things to play with...they stock something for everyone and if they dont...just ask and I'm sure they can find it for you.

These set of teen cards whipped up from a super set of stamps from the STAMPOTIQUE range that SCRAPTIVATE have in . Such fun and these are so cool.
School holiday fun is over...back to work tomorrow...SIGH !

Its about time ...

Well its been so long...so much has happened in my life...so will begin where my heart belongs right now. This little girl was found with her brother under a haystack. We have hand reared her and I just love and adore her so very much.

Baby/Tiny has kept my life afloat this last year...the one that has helped me deal with my darling fathers passing. To write this feels so strange and it still doesn't seem real...it's been a year, though still feels like yesterday and I hate that my beautiful mum is now without her best friend.

So this is not quite the blog post that a few dear friends were hoping for...but this was the post that has been the hardest to share. So thankyou dear friends for the loving push to re-join the blogging world.

CLOTH CLAY PLAY...

Thought I'd share something thats been happening in my life in the last few months...

Been joining in with a super online workshop creating CLOTH CLAY DOLLS with the super talented Jane DesRosier ( Gritty Jane.com ) and loving it so much.

Each lesson is stepped out in easy to follow video lessons.

that even this newbie sewer can follow ...and have enjoyed every step so far.

All the members share photo files just brimming with inspiration and monthly challenges if the cloth clay bug really bites you.

Not finished the first doll yet...but have so enjoyed the process so far

and gotta love my cherubs that make my life so rich... as do my friends that have given me so much love and support of late loosing my best mate...my shadow.

I shall miss you every day you super sock stealer .

Bless you for all the joy and endless love you have given me.

BEL'S BOOK...

Well I thought that these next lot of photo's were lost forever, but found the pic's of my fabric book page created for beautiful Belinda Schneider ...part of the swap with the FABRIC GIRLZ round robin. Now this girl just 'ROCKS' with her funky art so hope she likes my fabric page filled with Mona LOVE...

Now my page sits inside this turquoise felted bag( below) that attaches to Belinda's book by a large button on the back page of her book...it can be removed and used ...but dont look too close at that button hole...it's a first for me !

Now this was a very overdue ' BIRDS OF A FEATHER' swap on Inkredibly RT for the very groovy GENEVIEVE PAYNE who was a very patient gal.

Texture paste painted with metalic paints. Sari silk strips sewn to make a background and a nest

for the blackbird that was made with the lovely PATTI'S birdie template.

Phew, that was a mouthfull.

Made some alpha tiles with polymer clay and rubbed them with shimmer powder.

Now to make the most of these school holidays and PLAY !

The grade 5 children cut out 10 birds and I took it all home and created

10 birds symbolizing the TEN year anniversary of our school.

It was presented to the school at the Christmas assembly with so many fabulous comments from parents and teachers.I'm quite pleased with my first wall hanging and must say to Mr MARK, you did a mighty fine job with your part,thank you. I couldn't have done it without you !

CHRISTMAS ART SWAP...

Its been my pleasure to take part in a special Christmas swap with wonderful and talented Australian AUST ART SISTERS.

I created some bookmarks from pieces of wet felting I made. I just adore felt making and cant get enough of it.

Been to another felting class with the wonderful and talented TANYA PETERS (The Barefoot Felter) and once again had a blast. Created these amazing pods and they need a little more loving on the embellishment side. Super fun and a great base for creating 3D pieces.

with a touch of Tanya's secret flavour !

Had the privilidge of showing the year 5's at school the art of wet felting which has gone down a treat. Look at all the lovliness they have created.

Now to create something with all the pieces for a group project.

Fabric books and Felting FUN !!!

I've been playing in the lovely TINA'S fabric book and was so inspired by everyones super artwork. It's so nice to leave something as a sign-in, so popped this little tag in a pocket for Tina. Cotten sprayed with glimmer mists and stamped with a favourite COLLECTIONS stamp. Added some hand made paper beads dipped in UTEE and sprinkled with yummy opals.

Really fun to make.

Was so inspired to make a wild women from Dales ( The Thread Studio) challenge so made some silk paper and crazy stitched to black fabric. Love these faces and hands from ARTGIRLZ and added a beautiful treasure given to me by JANE, the treasure queen herself.

Had the pleasure of take a FELTING class a few weeks ago through CATALYST WORKSHOPS with the lovely TANYA PETERS and had a ball making tradional felt using wet felting techniques. My,my this is certainly addictive.

Lets just say that the felting bug has bitten me ...

This is the shinniest of SUPER STAR's in my life ,CLARE MILLS, who has been heavily involved with and one of the driving forces behind the ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY in Southern River, Western Australia.It's been about 11 years and more since she became involved and has had many roles, head dog carer, committe president, personnal manager, just a few of the official jobs. Not to mention all the social work that is required. The hours listening to the life stories of people and animals that pass through the gates and the after hours running around. Its truly a job she loves and adores but never needs 'thankyou' for all her hard work. At 63 years of age she is my hero and many look upon her with adoring eyes. I loves you CLARE BEAR and you are the best mum in the world !

So thought I would add a few pics taken while my good friend Julie patiently captured her new love in her life HARVEY. These kitty cats looked so comfortable as they had found a place to snooze the days away, but nothing would compare to home to call their own.

Well my latest page for dear Martha, a member of the FABRIC GIRLZ, is finished and in the post to Magda in Germany. Martha's wonderful book had a theme of a secret garden with a wonderful gate that opened into the book on the front page,with a brick wall the other side for us all to use as a graffitti wall to sign-in , really FUN !

I painted felt with metalic paint and sewed images that I had stamped into air dry clay and rubbed with coloured rub and buff. Turned it all into a big pocket with treasure hidden inside.

So inspiring to work with earths grand colour scheme,the greens, golds and brown have a calming feel about them I think...

Added tags to encourage viewers to touch and look...

Really enjoyed this book so hope Martha will like it.

Now this little fella is only very small but gave me so much joy to create while visiting with a lovely friend. He stand just 1.5 inches tall, a shrine by COFFEE BREAK DESIGNS that ARTISTIC JOURNEY sell in their online shop. Love these little shrines that come in many different shapes and sizes and can be turned into a necklace or tiny earings.

VERY COOL !!!

Bit of this and that...

Thought I would share some things that have evolved over the last few months, things that have been works in progress for quite a while. These blue ladies are sisters, twins I say but not identical.They are finished (picture is pre-embellished) and now reside in the homes of two great gals that are lovely, wonderful, caring friends to me.

Thought I would share my latest fabric book page for Jo, a heart pocket that holds a secret.Once again I could have added so much more to each one as the ideas keep evolving and have a time frame that my brain isnt set to. Gotta stop overthinking my plan and be a girl of action to get it all how I want it to look in my head ! Each round I learn something new which is brilliant.This page taught me that I know nothing about tention while free motion stitching on my machine HA !!! Still have a romantic thing happening ,working in pinks and purples, but hey, thats the way it goes....

Had a lovely gift arrive from the ever loving, ever giving Dotee which was so awsome from the moment I laid eyes on the parcel. Dotee had decorated the package with little dotee doll stickers and spoilt me rotten with delightful dolls (miss Amelia was a favourite and thrilled she is mine) stickers, beautiful fabric and the most wonderful Dotee dolls for my two girls to create for themselves.A super inspiring gift and makes it so worth getting my gall bladder removed to be spoilt like this, so I thankyou dear Dot for caring about me. Hug you Dotee xxx

Vampire Love...

Have read these books by Stephanie Meyer while was recovering a few weeks ago and just waiting for Breaking Dawn ,the fourth book,to come out on the 4th of August. If you like teen love stories (ahh, memories of your first love) with a little vampire love and suspence thrown in then these are a great weekend read just for you. Brought out the teenage girl in me !

Entertained me too ...but then so does watching popcorn pop, he-he...and I'm going to have to pull rank with miss teen to read the 4th one first.

I just love the images on the covers of these books, quite striking !

The movie TWILIGHT comes out in January 2009 .

Time is ticking ...

Time has been ticking away and what do I have to show for it ? Very little in the creative aspect of my life I'm afraid .My Gall Bladder decided it was time we parted company, so Ive been in recovery mode .Many of my peeps gave support ( THANKYOU) and shared stories of painful gall bladders of their own. I'm hearing that I'm now part of a not so exclusive club !

Made this canvas for my dear and very loveable friend CARMEL (who creates awsome wire work so go check her out !) ,for a canvas niche swap run on a super yahoo group called INKredibly RT. Canvas niche covered in fabric and painted in various colours, sprayed in walnut and glimmer mists.Delight air dry clay for the face, texture paste piped on for the hair,which was coloured using glimmer mist, highlighted in gold paint.
Made her crown using a wire jig, then hammered and shaped it to fit her head.

Now back to my SEWING. Is there every to be a day that the word SEWING doesn't feel foreign in my mouth ! Hope so.....

Felting for FABRIC GIRLZ

It's been way too long since I updated and shared my latest adventures. Between work, family and doing the mum's taxi thing I really dont know where the time goes. Wish I was writing Ive been too busy socialising, shopping and REALLY ENJOYING MYSELF. Ok, well there has been a little of that creeping in between the other stuff . It certainly hasnt been all bad.

So thought I would share a few pics of my fabric book page for the super sweet gal JACKY,

who chose the fabulous arch shape for her book. Used my super CLOVER hand felter to attach some silk fibre but learnt that time frames and over thinking do not go hand in hand, as there was a few things I wanted to do before calling this finished.

With every round I'm hoping to learn something new and hope to create with a new technique .This Fabric Girlz group is just the best push Ive had to join the fabric world.

I'm still to learn the mastery of hand sewing, but there is hope for me yet !

Thought I would share my fabric page this month for my dear gal pal DOTEE, one of 10 fabric book's making their way around the world . This newbie learnt some new things in her fabric journey and enjoying this such a lot. Hard to say how it happened to turn into such a girlie page, but maybe hosting a big sleepover for my two daughters and friends had something to do with this very busy piece. I wanted to have a bit of a royal feel with the purple/pink colour with gold touches and crystal beads.It's back is not quite finished but it will head off to Germany in the next few days.

Hope you like it Dotee as I really enjoyed making this one.

Meet JADE and...

Meet our new family Member JADE, adopted from The Animal Protection Society at Southern River. A wonderful shelter for cat's and dogs that my darling mum and dad has been involved with for about 10 years or more. BOY! have they been part of the driving force that have seen major changes for the place. New kennels and outdoor runs for the dogs and new housing and kitten sheds for the cats.So much work goes on behind the scenes to network looking for donations for food and bedding which local business are supporting with great enthusiasm.

My mum works tirelessly for this cause both at the refuge and behind the scenes.It's known by all that if she left the place would fall down !

If thats not all she now foster cares for SAFE which has seen quite a few little faces staying for a few weeks to a few months in their home.It stands for SAVING ANIMALS FROM EUTHENASIA and another great cause for animals.

Finally finishes this canvas for my gal pal which is finally in her hot little hands.Texture paste, gel medium transfer and fiddly bits all in the name of good fun.
Tried my hand at doing some copper etching and lets just say Ive learnt lots through mistakes. This was the best piece and will definatley have another crack at it.

Off to Miss Saigon today for the arvo session with my mumsy.How wonderful that grandad is coming to take my two girls out for lunch today. A super day for all as master 16 is off to act and direct in preparion for the school drama festival while hubby is in Darwin.BEAUTIFUL !

Finished my page for the fabric book round robin for THE FABRIC GIRLZ and this is my efforts for Nats 'Natures Hidden Treasures' . Ive really enjoyed the colour tones with the theme. A texture paste tree , rusted lutradur, highlights of gold , sewing, stamping , painting , burning... I could go on and on...it's really been fun .

Bake that CLAY

Oh what fun to finally have a crack at playing with polymer clay, DUKIT make and bake from New Zealand is what Ive used. Ive been heavily influenced by the wonderful book MIXED MEDIA MOSAICS by LAURIE MIKA and boy does she have some wonderful art pieces along with some great tips in her book.I highly recommend it for some fun.This was my first attempt made with pearl DU-KIT with grape and silver mica powders. Ive used zettiology stamps and image ( dont we all love zetti stuff ). All embellishments are glued on after baking.

This one below is translucent clay with silver and Grape mica powders with pearl used for the centre face.I left this one with a uncoloured back wich gives it a very transparent look.

Hmmm...this one still needs some work.... Did a double layer of black DU-Kit with range of different copper and gold mica powders. Again using zetti stamps and artchix wings and crowns and lots of eyelets( luv eyelets).I tried making my own little pendants but really need to work on my skill , to take more care with the details ( pop air bubbles and dont squish the detail out of your clay face ) It doesnt take much to burn in a toaster oven either ( see left oval has scorch marks on the bottom rim) and found that baking for shorter burst stopped the clay bubbling and burning.

More fun that cooking food I say.....yep, family starving while I cook polymer clay....

ABOUT TIME...

It's certainly been a long time since I last visited my own blog. Ive had a bumpy start to 08 with removal of my wisdom's which left me with paresthesia from nerve damage ,NUMBNESS of my teeth,gums, lips and chin on my left side of my dial. Fingers crossed it heals but for now am thankful my speech is back to near normal, so time will tell, fingers crossed.

Got a shiny new toy, A SEWING MACHINE after Christmas, which has kept me entertained with a huge learning curve ahead ,as those close to me know, I'm fabric challenged !

Fantastic timing to be asked to join in with some wonderful gals to do a fabric book swap and these are my covers for my book. Who would have thought I would be take part in a group called FABRIC GIRLZ. See dreams can come TRUE !

Included some mini icicles brooches inside the book for the gals to keep. How else did I keep my mind occupied while sitting bedside at hospital while my middle gal had knee surgery. Cut bones held by screws and thigh to ankle plaster had a three day stay.A long recovery but gotta say she is a wonderful patient. Bet she never imagined mummy would be bathing her at her age !

The icicle doll's made from Belinda's pattern has kept me VERY entertained. I did her three for three swap and have so enjoyed this little pattern so much Ive been churning them out. I just make them out of calico, gel medium transfer an image or fabrico a stamped image and H2O or suncolour the body and decorate to my hearts content.

Been playing and learning photoshop CS3, which is GRAND ! So much better than FireFox, but that was a great starting block. I can spend hours tweaking this and that and thrilled there are so many free tutorials out there, not to mention the free fonts and brushes.

So I haven't been wasting time doing housework at all you'll be pleased to know. I do have more to share but must away to play counter strike with miss 15. It aids the healing so she tells me

New year gifts...

Did a little rusting a few weeks ago that were supposed to be christmas gifts but will now be happy new year gifts for some gals that keep my art fire burning .Beauty little canvas's that are about 5x8 and smaller.Just the cutest, so thought I would share a couple that are nearly finished.

This is a work in progress ( ok its been about 2 months but I blame RANGER for making too many too many new toys to play with) This has a special gals name on it and I hope you get it before 2009.Just kidding as I intend to get quite a few things finished and posted in the new year.

I promise,pinky swear !

Had some fun with some gesso and the distress inks that with a lighter application of gesso would of been better.Still I quite like these and will use them for something Im sure.

OH and ICICLE dolls still have a firm grip on my attention with beading and decorating (JH thinks my sewing face a little fierce,but her sewing tips were mighty helpful) I think the sewing machine is calling out for another batch.

Feeling the Christmas cheer and made a few Christmas card's and little decorations.Gotta love the free Dover clip art and super Ranger distress inks sprayed with a little moon shadow mist.Relaxed and enjoyed the weekend while ignoring the housework, the washing( it will all be there for me tomorrow, I'm sure of it ).Lucky my hubby is an enabler cause he cooked for all the family leaving me to really enjoy myself.

Potato Chip Patina and Icicle Dolls

So, what have I been doing ? Well potato chip Patina from a recipe shared from Metal Craft Discover Workshop by Linda and Opie O'Brian.A wonderful book filled with some super ideas. I love this patina as its chemical free and gives a super finish.Even the odd bit of chippie gives a wonderful texture.Sand the metal lightly for tooth, brush on salty water, lay crushed salt and vinegar chips, spray lightly with water. Cover and wait till desired finish.Must be sealed with spray.The top left pic is copper foil that was eaten right through overnight.Way too thin so have opted to use copper tape.My ATC is for the technique swap with KY.I just love the GORGONS head. A memento from the Roman Bath House on our trip last year.

Now arn't Belinda Schneiders ICICLE DOLLS jut so ADDICTIVE ! I am sooooooooo NOT a sewer but have found these delightful to play with. This is my first batch on Saturday (yes Dotee we were both playing Icicle dolls at the same time).Sunday saw me doing image transfers onto fabric and then doing more vintage icicle dolls.A really great pattern for a beginner like me, but so fun.Now to decorate with beads and charms.I think I might join up for the Icicle doll swap.Yeah sounds like a grand plan cause I know Dotee and Jacky are playing too.WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO

UPDATE: Boys Book Club

Well quite a few boys have finished the covers for their books and Ive gotta say they are pretty COOL.

Checkout their efforts...

We dyed paper,measured,cut, stamped, embossed, eyeleted. Used air dry clay, sand, metal tape, leather, paint,metalic rub-ons, alcohol inks, shim, texture paste, Split pins, string and brown paper.Pretty specky effort for 10 year olds to come up with these designs and Ive so enjoyed working with these lads.Its been the lift I so needed to fuel the creative fire.

Its made me dabble with a few mini books.The dark brown one is a tag book cover covered with shellac, a medium inspired by Julie H, which is just awsome and gives a glorious golden hue.The other two are tag books,the pages are tags turned into pockets that hold the tags poking out the top. Such fun

Boys Book Club

An after school project called the GUTENBERG BOYS BOOK CLUB has me all inspired to help 10 boys to write,create and make their own,individual book.They certainly have Jane and I very enthused.The delight in their eyes is every so exciting as I can see the ideas whirling round in their heads.Most have a very vivid view on how they want their book to look, while others are very open to listen and happy to bounce ideas around.Im finding this a very interesting project,they are my muse at the moment which has made me rather keen to create.Is this what drives most people to devote their lives to teaching?I think it might !

We have aged paper( coffee granual's were a favourite that had the artroom smelling like Miss Mauds),created a book with a spine and started making embellishments with airdry clay.The boys really enjoyed some rubber stamping too.Gotta get them while there young and bring them to the dark side,he-he.The dragon book I made below seemed to be a hit as was the metal tape covers.

.Who says making male art is hard !

This Tuesday will see them all putting their hand dyed papers on the covers and learning to set an eyelet which I'm sure they are all going to love smashing with a hammer as much as I do.

Just thought I would share where my heads been at lately and this post is dedicated to the lovely Deb Baker who is ever inspiring and offer's encouragement to those that are lazy bloggers.he-he.

Now this time last year we were in the UK for Halloween and of course my girls just had to have a crack at pumpkin carving. A major mess, but so worth it.They look fantastic lit up with a candle .

I should pin this to his bedroom door to gaze upon before opening, so as to soften the blow.

This was taken at the EFFB British Bodybuilding Championships in 1987 which he received 2nd place.First place winner in my eyes though.

Now miss 11 insist I blog her mask made at school two years ago which she is very proud of. Isnt it a beauty !This lives in my craft room which miss 11 would say we 'share'.Gotta love that !

INKredibly RT stamp camp 2007,held last June, was once again a blast as I was lucky enough to spend time with some of my favourite girls that so inspire me with their creativeness.List mum, Sally G , surprised me with this totally awsome shrine(de meng style) that has an inchie made from all the girls that attended camp. HOW COOL IS THAT !Every one of these inchies are super and I'm floored with the wonderful job Sal has done to put it all together.Thankyou one and all for this gift that makes my heart soar...

Things have been just a little Topsy-turvy in our house-hold while we fit a new bamboo flooring throughout.Carpets were layed in all the bedrooms and our main lounge room, so to put it simply,we have emptied our entire house and BOY we have some STUFF !

Now these next shots are of my craft room (supposed to be our formal dining) Horror of horrors to bare my soul to all the family and had it proved to me that Ive got more STUFF than all 4 other family members.

Lets just say husband took it well.

My craft space is all painted , re floored and put back together (well nearly)

and I think my muse is ready to play.Found forgotten things and re-kindled the love of MY SPACE.It's still ongoing,you know the game of sort and find a home for everything, but its 12 years of clutter and the best spring clean we have ever done.

Lets just say I can finally see light at the end of a very long tunnel

Decided to decorate a cupboard with all my favourite ATC's that have been traded with me.I think I will do the same on the other cupboard doors as its just amazing to see them all together like this.

How lucky am I to know some awsome artists that Im blessed to call my friends.You gals ROCK !

As its nearly been a year since we went back to the Uk, I thought I would share the last leg of the journey.What joy I've had looking back.

The drive from Bolton had us re-explore a trip to Bath, a beautiful place known for its Roman bath house.Just super to walk where Romans once walked on these ancient stone pavements around the steaming pool.Money well spent there. http://www.romanbaths.co.uk/
I love this shot of the Gorgons head.Suchs superb craftmanship and to think its still here since the AD, just amazing.
This amazing building to the left is the Abbey.A beautiful sight with a grand fudge shop across the road( 25 flavours and yes came away with only 5)
Such beautiful scenery and so worth revisiting.Had it really been 17 years since my last visit !

Then onto Stonehenge of course.One of the worlds most intriguing and mysterious sites that had us all discussing our own ideas of its purpose.Facinating to think that its as old as the pyramids, and still we

look on hoping it will reveal its secrets.Quite an energy surrounds this place and interesting to hear my childrens thoughts about it all.None wanted to leave.
So then back to Romford for a family 4oth, an evening at South End for the rides and periwinkles and pop to Chelmsford for a catchup with Great nan Potter, who has since passed. 85 years young
She would have said 'Ive had a good life duck' but we are so pleased you got to see your great grandies.

My darling father came home with that paper declaring that 'he was sure he knew that girl in the picture'.

Checkout my wicked cool Easter Bonnet with my handmade carnations made from tissues. A wonderful idea shown to me by my grandmother who has since passed.I would spend hours colouring tissues with textas and suspend them over water using sticks,watching the colours bleed and mingle.

It's been forever since Ive created anything worth sharing, so this offering is a mystery muse gift I made for a great gal I so admire,Elaine.

Onto the land of tarten

How glorious the drive up to Scotland was with so many postcard moments that I longed to capture.The air so fresh and clean, the countryside so pretty.
A week to explore was not long enough.This first shot was taken from McCaigs tower, overlooking the town of Oban.

Castles, castles everywhere.Its just seeping with history and stories begging to be told.These three pics are all different castles, the middle one is Urquhart Castle on the Loch Ness, built in the 13th century.Twas a misty day to sail on the loch, but alas, no sign of Nessie.

Such beautiful sites such as this waterfall that was tucked away.
Below is the view we had from our super holiday spot at Tralee Bay Holidays in Benderloch,by Oban.Our first walk down to the loch had me sighting the first of the wildlife, a seal.The first morning had hubby sighting wild deer.This holiday park was A1, and I would go back in a heartbeat http://www.tralee.com/.

Another castle on the far left ( cant remember the name but brother -in laws father was stationed here in the war) Couldn't you just imagine a princess living there.The next shot is 2150ft up on the Ben Nevis Range.What a great sight that was and we truly were above the clouds.

We enjoyed a rare breeds park where my boy made friends with a highland coo.Yes coo.
We saw the funniest dance from a lama there, something we will laugh about for years to come.

It was so interesting to see the how they work the lochs too.Patience and communication are what is needed here, but it was interesting to watch. Ive got to say that this was a wonderful week that I really enjoyed.Somewhere I know I will venture to again, but next time I hope to catch a true Scott all kilted up, cause I want to know if those rumours are true...he-he.

Really enjoying making charms at the mo, and have finally finished some for a swap on a wonderful group INCREDIBLY RT, hosted by the talented Julie H.

No pic of those here cause some things need to be a surprise, but will share some for stamp camp in June. A long weekend with some great gals just creating, laughing,sharing.

A trip to Wales

Now this leg of our journey was one I was longing for.My sister-in law and her hubby live near Manchester in Blackrod, so it was a few weeks staying with them.How lovely it is up there.The shopkeepers all so friendly and like a chat.Wonderful people.

This top pic is the church next door to Karan and Jeff.

Church bells on Sunday make for a superb alarm clock, and of course tell you you have 15 minutes to get to Sunday service.

Did you know a bread roll is a BARM.

I hand fed a wild RED squirrel.Just the daintiest little creature you ever did see.These are endangered as the grey squirrel are taking over, so sad.

Now these next two pics are of Lake Windermere, Beatrix Potter Country.Such a delightful day out on the lake, and a ride on a steam train.

Beautiful countryside and ever so green.

Another day saw us drive 5 hours to get up into Wales.Now there is some clean air. Fill your lungs.What amazing country-side.Our destination was Mt Snowdon, and a steam train up the mount.Now we only got just over half way, but the view was AMAZING

I couldn't get enough of the wonderful stone buildings and this little lane way was just begging to be explored.

Such a wonderful place that I really enjoyed.I look forward to a return visit there, and next time I,m walking down that mountain.

Wednesday Stamper theme this week is COLOURED, so what is my choice ????

This is a bookmark I whipped up for miss 10 ( it worked wonders for a few days for a girl that would rather be doing other things than reading )

Done using chalks which I really enjoy as I find these very easy to use, come in a beautiful range of colours and I relax while working the colours.

So stamp in Versamark, then apply chalks with a pom pom ball held by an alligator clip . I like to finnish with a light layer of shimmer dust, then spray with a sealer. My choice, hairspray.

So many wonderful products to choose from. It could be paints, alcohol inks, H2o,chalks,crayons......So many wonderful toys to play with but I would like to share a few things that I made using Adirondak and Stazon inks on stampboard.

I'm thrilled to say that these are all featured in the wonderful AUZZ ART ZINE which comes out shortly.It features wonderful Australian and New Zealand talent.
Our very own Natalie Briney and Jenny Crozza also have some AMAZING artwork there, so please go and order a copy of this excellent magazine.

Ive been playing the last few days and really enjoying myself.Its been dabble here and there and Ive made a mighty mess ( yep touch that and the whole lot will topple) but gee Ive enjoyed myself.

Finished these for a ATC swap with a theme of backgrounds.Its texture paste through sequin waste, painted with metalic paints.Fabric stamped in stazeon,then painted with H20's.Finished off with doodles with a black sharpie.

Simple, but fun.

This weeks theme for Wednesday Stamper is WHITE.
This ATC was a swap I did in January, so new stuff for me.This 42 degree heat just sucks the art right out of me.For the background Ive stamped into texture paste, adding fine glass beads for added texture,highlighted with gold and Jo Sonya's Opal Dust.Added glass beads around the border. FUN.
Yes miss innocent is me, taken on board the Australis in 1972.I'm dressed for a fancy dress party,high hopes from my parents to become Miss Australia 1989.

Yep, still got the butter wouldn't melt thing happening. HA !

A week in Paris

Bonjour fellow bloggers.

A bit of playtime for Wednesday Stamper the theme of course is PARIS.

Thought I would share the next part of my travels which was Paris.After finding our hotel and dumping our bags, with my hubbies persuasion,we then walked the streets( Oh no that thought did not cheer me) I was tired, hungry and very travel weary.

BUT

Thank goodness we did as we saw a park filled with families, enjoying the grass and the trees, the fresh air.The building were AMAZING.I dragged my heels just looking at doorways.We went down an alley and dinned in the loveliest restaurant.The food was wonderful and we entertained a local while we ate.He seemed to enjoy our first taste of french food as much as we did.

I truly did not know I had arrived till I stood in front of the Arc De Triomph.That feeling I had been waiting for settled over me and I knew I was in Paris.Yes we climbed the many many steps to the top (my goodness there are a lot) and the view is superb. Just on twilight we saw the day turn to night and the streets came to life.

How fantastic for the Eiffel Tower to sparkle like diamonds just for us.

My first night in Paris was all I had hoped it would be.

A booked tour saw us boarding a bus to give us a glimpse of the cities main sites.All three children managed to sleep through that.Money well spent.Then off to sail down the Seine.How magic to see many an artist sat sketching, painting ,drawing.

Inspiring.

The buildings, OHHH, I was so loving the architecture.10 foot doorways with carved archway' s and windows.I soaked up as much as I could.

Then off to lunch at the Eiffel Tower.What can I say but AMAZING.Beautiful restaurant with an

amazing view.After sending my ma and pa a postcard from the post office on the 1st floor( it gets stamped EIFFEL TOWER, cool), we carried on up to the second floor.High enough for the brave man in my life so that is where we stayed and enjoyed the sites for the afternoon.

We used the trains and saw as much as we could.How special to catch the evening service at Notre Dame.The atmosphere was superb, the singing was moving.Such a special place that had us visiting another day.

The surrounding streets were quaint with fantastic restaurants.It was so hard to choose where to eat.We sampled french pasteries ( delightful) and had the most wonderful melt in your mouth croisants, so fluffy.We all still remember the taste of a fresh baquette that to top it with anything would have spoilt it.

Just delicious.

Oh and the Louvre, don't go on a Tuesday as its closed for cleaning.Well it just means we have something for next time.

How lucky am I to receive this super amazing quilt from our Jackie. I'm quite blown away that Jacky would give this to me.So much work and detail, that for me , being a non sewer, I really do admire.So much stitching and little beads dotted about.The glass dragonfly beads are a beautiful touch.Its such yummy colours, with gold splashed about.This is such a treasure I love it so much. On with the journey....to Disneyland

So it was a very early rise the day we set out for EURO DISNEY,PARIS.How exciting ! It was board a bus with all 5 dragging the luggage.Travel the underground in peak hour,to then climb aboard the very comfy Euro Star. Bit like a plane, except its a train.How lovely it was to watch the very green countryside go by.

Disneyland was amazing.So must to see and do( of course a pic with Mick Mouse is a must) The grounds are immaculate and on arrival walked into a street parade with all the characters.The park had a Halloween theme so there were pumpkins everywhere.We saw such alot that first afternoon,and due to a slight drizzle of rain saw us walking onto rides, no queuing.This had my husband boarding INDIANA JONES roller coaster,mumbling 'this isn't right,I haven't had time to think this over'.Closed eyes and white knuckled he rode it out,brave soul.It was THE best roller coaster ride Ive ever been on.Bring it on !

How lucky was my girlie to have her 14Th birthday there.At lunch 6 waiters singing happy birthday brought out her birthday cake.Her face was a picture as she scanned the room to see who was getting the cake, realizing they were heading her way.Excellent surprise.She shared half her cake with some french children who had come over to have a look.

Dinner at the wild west show finished her day with us whooping and hollering with Buffalo Bill, cowboys,Indians,buffalo and Annie Oakley.What a great day!

Above is a shot I took of the haunted mansion.The sun behind the house gave it a spooky look.Of course I meant to do this !

So much detail everywhere you look.Three days there just wasn't enough to see all three parks.My favourite was movie world where I saw the best demo of stunt driving ever.

What wonderful memories we all came away with and a grand time was had by all.

Next stop PARIS. wee-wee

Such a difference

Ive been quite astounded by the difference in the colour of my artwork when it comes to comparing the camera to the scanner.I'm really enjoying learning about both tools.

These two are the same ATC.Stampbord coloured using stazon ink, but the one on the left is scanned.The one on the right taken with the camera and is the true colour of the ATC.

Such a difference !

These were done with stampbord with stazon, with a bit of wild plum thrown in.Once again the colours are quite different.

Interesting !

Sorry for the blurry one on the left. (Practice makes perfect and I'm practising )

Ive been thinking about my family trip overseas last October,which seems like eons ago, a feeling that it was all just a dream.
This trip was to take our children to see family (My husband and I are English, I was imported to Oz when I was 2) and to show our eldest where he was born.We did so much in the 6 weeks so thought I would share a peek with you.

The first week was spent in Chelmsford,Essex, where my hubby and our first born are from.Of course we stopped by the semi detached house where we lived in Hatfield Peveral, and I reminised.Saw the field nearby where I had made my first snow angel and listened to the quietness that new fallen snow brings.Oh how many things I had forgotten.

From here the children had their first experience of a castle in Colchester,the oldest recorded village in Essex.The home of the rhymes Humpty Dumpty (a huge cannon) and twinkle twinkle.

Of course we travelled the underground around London and did the tourist thing. The London Eye,Big Ben, cruise on the Thames,Big red open topped bus,Covent Garden,London Bridge,grey squirrel's, tea with the Queen.Its so seeped in history with so much to see and do.

We just had to go to the theatre of course ,so the families choice was 'We Will Rock You'.Really enjoyable.

Tottenham Court Road,now there is a very busy place.All hustle and bustle.

I heard the sweetest sound of a busker whistling in the underground tunnels that day.

From here to Paris , but that is another post.

Just wanted to share some drawings that master 15 drew while waiting for a download at the pc .I think these are awesome ( a proud mama had to show them off ) but master 15 shrugs his shoulders and says 'it just scribbles to pass the time'.No biggie hey !

What joy that he has taken Art as a year 11 elective.

WEDNESDAY STAMPER CHALLENGE : Think Pink Art Give Away

Ive enjoyed the Wednesday Stampers THINK PINK challenge for this week.

I donned my pink PJ's ( yes suitable attire for Sunday best ! ) and had thoughts of girlie girls and dainty things all sparkling and shimmering.

My little canvas was the first to evolve.I stamped into texture paste( making memories foamies ),then painted it with several shades of twinkling H2o's.Ive then highlighted with Champagne metalic folk art paints and stamped french script in blazing red stazon for her background.Ive stamped the image (cherry pie I think ) onto tissue paper.Attached beaded trim with golden heavy gel medium.It looks quite different when hanging.

The second is a decoration that has a clip and chain to hang on. I think both of these are reflecting a number of things that I'm thinking about ATM.

Ive been very inspired to join in with the VALENTINE ART that the lovely ART TEA LIFE has everyone jumping about of late.An idea that has gone out like a lovely shock wave. The cause and effect will hopefully inspire you too.

The idea that if you leave a message in my comments your name will go into the hat to have one of these pink pieces.I will draw 2 names on Wednesday night, so hopefully I will get it to you for Valentines.

Dragonfly ART

Been having some fun with my Krafty Lady moulds and Delight air dry clay just lately ( thanks France for the inspiration )

The dragonfly is Stampers Annon.I ran the delight through the pasta machine , dusted the stamp with my antistatic pad,then stamped the image into the Delight.Let dry for 24 hours, then painted black with black gesso.Ive then rubbed with metallic rub-ons, then dusted the dragonfly with blue/green shimmer powder.

The glare on the pic ( shoddy camera work, sorry ) hasn't picked up these colours.Ive then rubbed the image with antique gold rub and buff.The letters are done using the same method.Love these little letter tiles, but I have just used the inner part of the letter mold.Excellent to get different looks for your letters.

Emboss the background with ranger distressable embossing powder and added some eyelets with the very cool crop-o-dile.

Heaps of fun ( yes little piles of fun everywhere on my craft desk )

If I tidy it I wont know where anything is ! 'VBG'

My dad's 15 minutes of fame

Just had to tell that my darling dad will be on the TV programme ,Totally Wild, channel 10, Friday, 2nd of Feb at 4pm (Western Australian time).Michael Mills, you star !They are doing a story on the new Maritime Museum in Fremantle,where my father works.He organises the guided tours through the submarine,HMAS Ovens.He is thrilled and very proud,as we all are of him.Congrats dad,good for you !

Lets just hope its not just the back of your head that makes it onscreen .LOL

As I was typing this there was a knock at my front door and there was my dad.A little paper bag in his hand, 'I bought this for you' he says to me.Inside was a little bottle with a sailing ship in it's belly, the tall ship SS Leeuwin 2 to be exact.A beautiful memento from a days sailing that we all did on the last day of 2006.A gift to us all from mum and dad. It was a special day for everyone, and thank you to you both,we had a great day.

To dad,thank you, I love my little ship in a bottle.

I LOVE these colours

Thought I would share my latest playtime with a $1.50 antique copper frame (new) Now the frame didnt have a stranger's picture inserted , but a lovely script.So of course I had to add my flavour,which seem to be these colours quite a lot of late (lol). I do love the vibrancy of my stazon pads.Colours used here are Mustard, Pumpkin, Blazing Red and black. Stamping on the underside and top of the glass gives a great layered look.

Is it just me or does everyone have a certain colour combo they just cant move away from?

Gotta say though, these colours do get the 'ART FIRE ' burning !

This weeks theme for Wednesday Stamper is Mona Madness.

I really like this Stamper Annonymous image of Mona from the Tim Holts Collection.

Ive used the collections arches and embossed with Rusty nail. Im still working on the inside.

The other is a ATC done with Delight air dry clay,stamped ( GPP),air dried, painted black, applied Metalic Rub-Ons.

Excellent to work to a theme. Its quite a challenge.

My very good friend Jane P and I finally caught up last week as this is my wonderful bag of goodies Jane gave me.
I'm feeling very spoilt.This art doll Jane made ( and secretly I wanted her for myself ) Super beading work.Thank you Jane, you do spoil me.

Super gal pal Sal G gave me this terrific note holder on HER birthday.Its done using friendly plastic, but this photo doesn't do it justice at all.Its quite sparkly with lots of metallic colours.I love this stamp, and Sals touch is just super.Thankyou you Yllas.

Well The last few days Ive been doing a wide variety of stuff from cleaning/sorting to creating.Ive done cards, ATC's, canvas boards,brooches.I'm having a ball.This pin Ive done for a sample for Paperartsy.Its the Strange Little girls stamp, so thought the mix of metal bits suited them.Bit of a JC flavour to this one.Love your stuff crozza.

Now this card was made for my special aunty Carol ( well she is my cousin, but I call her aunty ) She hasn't been feeling very well lately and through a doctors checkup found out she had had a stroke.Test will reveal to what extent its affected her, but basically she hasn't been feeling to flash.So to cheer her my mum dug out this picture of AC as a child and hopefully it will cheer her up.It will be interesting to see if she recognises herself !

I,m so lucky to have wonderful sharing people around me.The giving of a handmade gift is very special.How touched I was at my stampclub last Friday night,when a good bud Tania B gave me a tin of handmade brush soap for my paintbrushes.You couldn't buy a finer product as the way she had packaged it in a silver metal screw top tin, fancy label on the lid.I'm still on happy high when I think about it, and have used it many times in the last few days.LOVE IT Tania, thank you.The friends Ive made through stamping has been wonderful surprise for me.Sharing ,caring and encouraging.
You girls ROCK!

Time to myself

School holiday's have been super relaxing for me.I'm totally enjoying the late nights,extra long sleep-ins and ignoring the housework (what a wonderful feeling when Ive have shared household duties with my children) lol and dont they love it! YEAH RIGHT,but they help me just the same.Pocket money is such a good incentive.

My creative time has meant the ideas that have been rolling round my head have begun to evolve into artwork.Ive relished in the free time, no running round for work, school,household duties.Time is always a big factor for us all and with it goes the debate of whether we should give our permission to use that time for ourselves.

This afternoon was spent with my daughter,my mother,a friend and her mum for a creative playtime.It never hit me until now how it felt more like a group of friends than a mother daughter thing.We enjoyed the company while all explored individual interests.There was beading and jewerllery making,quilling,card assemledge,stamping, ATC.

Throw in some cake and some laughs and you get a lovely afternoon.

Late night playtime

Thought I would share my late night playtime with my Paper Artsy 'School Days plate no 1.The first(Boy no 2) is an ATC done with the Tim Holtz technique of smooshing alcohol inks onto gloss card.What a great bloke he is ! Ive then used crackle accents on the A after using H2O.The H2o was pulled into the cracks and looks cool.

Dont we all love the Collections stuff!I love the circles (amongst many other things from this company) Its one of my fav things I love to embellish with.This is my first play with Wednesday Stamper and this weeks challenge of Shapes/forms.

The card ART boy is done using my scrap bags

( a challenge I set for myself just using 1 or 2 of my scrap bags ) Ive given the boy a light wash with H2O.I then cut the acetate to look like smashed glass and stamped and highlighted the acetate with white stazon.The background was done using a lazer transperancy and transfering it to a copied picture using rubbing alcohol.

The red and yellow ATC is done using acrylic paint on acetate.I get 2 pieces of acetate,apply paint , press together and swipe or pull the acetate apart.I do several colour combo's in the one sitting.The trick is to get the right amont of paint to cover the acetate without making it to thick ( makes it to hard to stamp on ) Ive then stamped on Mica with white stazon. ( boy you have to have a VERY clean stamp to use this pad, or you dont get a crisp white )

Note to self: Clean stamps more often !

Learning Curves

Well this weekend has been a great one for learning new things on my PC.Something I have put off for quite a while.A huge goal for me in 2007 is apply and learn more technical stuff, so I,ve taken the leap off the starting block .Creating a blog was first (thankyou to all the gals that prompted).I'm really enjoying the blogging world and the connection to others it offers.My next focus will be my digital camera and photo editing.

Watch out yahoo girls, I just might tamper with pics from camp!

While travelling round in my PC memory today I found some artwork that was made a while ago,,but thought you all might like to have a looksie .This ATC was made for a great gal,Jen J,who invited a few fabo girls to hers for a technique day.Jen shared a rusting technique, to then we added webbing spray.So much fun!See the background to the ATC.I've then used a transparency under a microscope slide and faux soldered with utee.

What wonderful company I'm keeping these days!The neverending supply of inspiration this arty crowd evokes keeps me hungry to follow the learning curve.I thankyou!
I venture to my craft desk to dabble with new rubber.Gotta love GPP rubber stamps.'OH YEAH'

My Best Friends

Well a lot of us have that special furry face in our lives and this is my guy.He is always there for me,offering nothing but love.Billy is an 8YO blue roan cocker who is my constant companion.I love my little guy so much, so wanted you to meet him.

My mum ,Clare Mills, helps run the (APS)Animal Protection Society in Southern River. WA.She is head dog carer,vice president and personnel manager and has dedicated the last 9 years to the cause.Both my parents volunteer so much of their time, but have made many changes to help this place run more smoothly.New kennels and catteries, improved living conditions for the animals,gained funding,increased members and awareness in our community.
The hours my mum spends there is tremendous.She asks nothing in return but instead gains much personal satisfaction in knowing she has saved a life (she scouts all the local pounds for those on death row)or finds a new home for the homeless.Ive heard it said that it would take 3 people to do her workload.To list all she does would be impossible.
She also works as assistant manager at my child's primary school canteen once a week.
She is my hero.I thank my lucky stars to have her in my life.

Something to Share

Well Ive decided to have a crack and share my daily (maybe ?) adventures.Some will yawn,or nod in agreement.Some will vow never to visit me again.I think my attitude will be, put it out there, be brave and share.

Yes, this will be my stance.

How blessed I am for the frienships found through ART.Rubber stamping for me has opened up a very rewarding world, one filled with acceptance,creativity,sharing and much laughter.

Time for me is spent learning new things whether it be about people,new products,my likes and dislikes.I'm the happiest Ive been in years.
